Dawn Pharmaceuticals was distributing 3000 SKUs (Stock Keeping Unit) and was servicing about 3000 retail pharmacy accounts. These pharmacies would buy their generic medicines from Dawn Pharma. Dawn Pharma had a staff of 180 people.
In 1999 Girish also developed the concept of Amkas Labs in the name of his children, Amisha and Akash. Amkas started private labeling of generics with Amkas label and selling them to major chains like CVS. In fact, CVS took 13 prescription products on board from Amkas Labs. Kinray, New York, was also a big buyer for Amkas products.
